Privacy Policy
How ASSRJ collects, uses and protects the personal data of authors, reviewers, editors and registered users, consistent with the UK GDPR.
This Privacy Policy explains how ASSRJ, published by Scholar Publishing (United Kingdom), collects, uses and protects the personal data of authors, reviewers, editors and registered users. We handle personal data lawfully and transparently, consistent with the UK GDPR / EU General Data Protection Regulation and applicable data-protection law.
Data we collect
We collect personal data that you provide when you register or interact with the journal, including: name, email address, affiliation, country, ORCID iD, academic interests, and the content of your submissions and correspondence. Reviewers’ and editors’ contact and expertise details are also held. The website also records standard usage data (for example IP address, browser and pages visited) through server logs and analytics.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
We use personal data to: operate the editorial process (managing submissions, peer review and publication); communicate with authors, reviewers and editors; publish author names, affiliations and ORCID iDs as part of the public scholarly record; and maintain the integrity of the record and comply with legal obligations. Our lawful bases are the performance of the publishing relationship, our legitimate interests in running a scholarly journal, consent (for example optional mailing lists), and legal obligation where applicable.
Sharing
We share personal data only as necessary to publish and preserve content — for example with Crossref for DOI registration, with indexing and abstracting services, and with our hosting and preservation providers, and where required by law. Published article metadata, including author names and affiliations, is necessarily public. We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
As an international journal, data may be processed in countries outside your own. Where data is transferred, we take appropriate safeguards consistent with data-protection law.
Retention
We retain personal data for as long as needed for the purposes above and to maintain the permanent scholarly record. Published article metadata is retained indefinitely as part of that record.
Your rights
Subject to law, you have the right to access, correct or erase your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. Information forming part of the published record (such as authorship) generally cannot be erased. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address below.
Marketing communications
We will only send journal updates or newsletters where you have opted in, and every such email includes an option to unsubscribe.
Cookies
The journal’s website uses cookies necessary for its operation (for example to keep you logged in) and analytics cookies to understand site usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
