Complaints & Appeals

How to appeal an editorial decision or make a complaint at ASSRJ, and how complaints are handled and escalated, following COPE guidance.

ASSRJ takes complaints and appeals seriously and handles them promptly, fairly and confidentially, following COPE guidance.

Appeals against editorial decisions

Authors who believe a decision was based on a factual error or a misunderstanding of the manuscript may appeal. To appeal:

Email the Editorial Office at assrj@scholarpublishing.org within 30 days of the decision, with the subject line “Appeal — [manuscript ID]”.
Provide a detailed, point-by-point response to the editor’s and reviewers’ comments and a clear explanation of the grounds for appeal.

The Editor-in-Chief (or a senior editor not involved in the original decision) will consider the appeal, and additional expert review may be sought. The decision on an appeal is final. Submitting an appeal does not guarantee reconsideration, and the journal handles one appeal per manuscript.

Complaints

Complaints may concern the editorial process, publication ethics, the conduct of staff or editors, or the journal’s policies. Please send complaints to assrj@scholarpublishing.org with enough detail to allow investigation. The journal aims to acknowledge a complaint within five working days and to provide a substantive response within four weeks, or explain any delay. Complaints are first handled by the Editor-in-Chief; where a complaint concerns the Editor-in-Chief, it is referred to the publisher, Scholar Publishing.
