How DAFS collects, uses, shares and protects the personal data of authors, reviewers, editors and registered users, consistent with the UK GDPR.

This policy explains how DAFS, published by Scholar Publishing (United Kingdom), collects, uses, shares and protects the personal data of authors, reviewers, editors and registered users. The journal processes personal data lawfully, fairly and transparently, consistent with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and other applicable data-protection law.

Personal data we collect

The journal collects the personal data you provide when you register or interact with it, including your name, email address, affiliation, country, ORCID iD and research interests, together with the content of your submissions and correspondence. It also holds the contact and expertise details of reviewers and editors, and records standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) through server logs and website analytics.

Purposes and lawful bases

Personal data are used to operate the editorial process, to communicate with authors, reviewers and editors, to publish authors’ names, affiliations and ORCID iDs as an intrinsic part of the public scholarly record, and to maintain the integrity of that record and meet legal obligations. The lawful bases are the performance of the publishing relationship, the journal’s legitimate interest in operating a scholarly publication, consent (for example for optional mailing lists), and legal obligation where it applies.

Disclosure, transfers and retention

Personal data are shared only as necessary to publish and preserve content — for example with Crossref for DOI registration, with indexing and abstracting services, and with hosting and preservation providers — and where required by law; article metadata, including authors’ names and affiliations, is necessarily public, and the journal does not sell personal data. As an international publication, data may be processed in other countries under appropriate safeguards. Personal data are retained for as long as needed for these purposes and to maintain the permanent scholarly record.

Your rights, marketing and cookies

Subject to law, you have the right to access, correct or erase your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability; information forming part of the published record, such as authorship, generally cannot be erased. The journal sends updates only to those who have opted in, with an unsubscribe option in every message, and its website uses cookies necessary for operation together with analytics cookies that you can manage through your browser.
