Submission Checklist & How to Submit
A pre-submission checklist and step-by-step instructions for the online system.
Submission checklist
Before you submit, confirm that:
| ✓ | the manuscript fits the Aims & Scope and is original, unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere; |
| ✓ | you have selected the correct article type and followed the relevant reporting guideline, with its checklist completed; |
| ✓ | the manuscript uses the BJHMR template and is supplied as an editable file, with line and page numbers; |
| ✓ | the title page lists all authors, affiliations, ORCID iDs, the corresponding author’s email and, for trials, the registration details; |
| ✓ | a structured abstract and 4–6 keywords (MeSH where possible) are included; |
| ✓ | ethics approval, consent to participate and consent to publish (including for identifiable images) are documented; |
| ✓ | units are SI, drugs are named by INN, and citations follow the required style with DOIs/PMIDs where available; |
| ✓ | all declarations are present: Ethics; Consent; Trial Registration; Data Availability; Funding; Conflicts of Interest; Author Contributions (CRediT); Use of Generative AI; |
| ✓ | figures and tables are numbered, captioned, de-identified and permission-cleared where needed; and |
| ✓ | all co-authors have read and approved the submission, and you have read the Ethics and Disclosures page. |
How to submit
All submissions are made through the journal’s online system (Open Journal Systems). First-time authors register for a free account; returning authors log in. The corresponding author submits on behalf of all co-authors.
| 1 | Log in and start a new submission. |
| 2 | Confirm the submission-preparation requirements and select the article type and section. |
| 3 | Upload the manuscript, the reporting-guideline checklist and any supplementary material. |
| 4 | Enter the metadata (title, abstract, keywords, all authors and ORCID iDs). |
| 5 | Review and complete the submission; the corresponding author receives an acknowledgement. |
After submission, the manuscript is checked for suitability and screened for originality before being sent for peer review.
