Journal History

From its origin as Transactions on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to the present.

Transactions on Engineering and Computing Sciences was established in 2013 by Scholar Publishing, United Kingdom, and originally published under the title Transactions on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (TMLAI). As the journal’s coverage broadened from machine learning and artificial intelligence to the wider engineering and computing sciences, it adopted its present title. It has issued content continuously since its foundation and reached its fourteenth annual volume in 2026, appearing bi-monthly.

Throughout this period the journal has maintained a commitment to immediate open access, single-blind peer review and adherence to recognised publication-ethics standards as a member of COPE. Its published work spans computer science, artificial intelligence and machine learning, intelligent and embedded systems, networks and security, the core engineering disciplines, and mathematical modelling and optimisation, drawing on research from a wide range of countries.

A note on our name and identifiers

The journal now publishes under the title Transactions on Engineering and Computing Sciences and the abbreviation TECS. Because of the change of title, some databases and DOIs retain identifiers associated with the former name; authors and libraries should use the current ISSN 2756-2638 and the article DOI (Crossref prefix 10.14738) when citing or cataloguing the journal’s content.
