An Attorney: A Mentor to Pay Tax

    An attorney is a mentor to pay tax is research the author conducted by personal interview and survey with clients of attorneys in Burundi. Results show that attorneys in Burundi at high level manifest a fair professional, face ethical issues, are engaged to the deterrence of tax evasion, fight for a fair tax, advocate for tax reform and are engaged in civic education related to tax. Burundi government is recommended to set up a civic education department in which attorneys can address all request related to tax civic education. It’s better to hire lawyers in that department and are qualified to agree with attorneys on different procedures to undergo until they reach their goal. Burundi government is recommended to give attorneys free access on public media while providing their expertise on tax civic education. Media is followed by many populations and sessions on tax civic education are a way to give a clear message to many people using few means in terms of finance. In every respect, Burundi government is recommended to fix scale of honoraria of lawyers’ expertise on civic education. This scale would be based on broadcasts in the media, publications of attorneys, and conferences related to tax. Burundi Bar Association is recommended to include in its budget free conferences on tax civic education in different corners of the country. Attendees could be identified among main contributors and leaders of public and private sectors. Burundi Bar Association as a board controlling attorneys’ activities is recommended to compel every attorney to organize each year a conference on tax civic education in a way of contribution in the program of government. In the same perspective, Burundi Bar Association is recommended to call upon every attorney to organize at least a year one online conference on tax civic education. Such conferences are conserved electronically, they can be transmitted to anyone who accesses social media, they can be ready whenever consulted. Attorneys are recommended to continue to be engaged to support programs of government through tax civic education as the research found out that they are keen to such teachings how beneficial to the growth of national economy. Attorneys are recommended to the obedience of requirements from Burundi Bar Association concerning the call to tax civic education. Burundi population is recommended to attend conferences and other meetings on tax education whenever attorneys are organizing them. Burundi population is recommended to buy and read books of attorneys on tax civic education; this can improve day after day the way tax is given.
