In this paper the issue of changing particle shape in packed conduits containing solid particle is examined. In so doing, a recently published paper in which perforated spherical particles were compared to full spherical particles is chosen as the worked example. The paper under study is; Title; Flow and heat transfer in fixed beds of spherical catalyst supports with internal voids. Authors; Anthony G. Dixon, Behnam Partopour, Bhanu Vardhan Reddy Kuncharam. Journal; Chemical Engineering Journal 544 (2026) 178722.
